Major recognition for Angel Marrero
St Mel classmate, Angel Marrero, just marked half a century with one company, a rarity these days.
In 1969, at the ripe age of 19, he was employed by United Airlines to be the first Puerto Rican/Hispanic to work in Chicago as a ramp serviceman. Then in 1975 he was promoted to be the first Puerto Rican/Hispanic to work in Flight Attendant Scheduling. In 1977, he transferred to Los Angeles. In 2006, due to office restructuring, he returned to Chicago. Angel now works at the Willis/Sears Tower in the Network Operations Center. March 31, 2019 was his 50th Anniversary date with United Airlines.
Angel is still going strong and is currently a flight attendant scheduler, making sure the planes are properly staffed before they depart.
Please congratulate Angel on a big Anniversary!
